Cranberry flavored vodka is a type of tincture, which is a fruit-flavored alcoholic beverage prepared by maceration of cranberries in spirit or vodka. The first mention of cranberry liqueurs dates back to the 17th century, when they were a popular drink among the nobility and clergy. Cranberry tinctures were not only tasty, but also medicinal, because cranberries contain a lot of vitamin C and antioxidants that strengthen immunity and prevent infections. Cranberry vodka was also used as a disinfectant and preservative.
