In general, a balsam is a tincture made of herbs, fruits and other special ingredients, with an alcohol content of 30 to 45 percent. Recipes for balsams invented by distillers are usually kept secret and passed down from generation to generation. The aroma of a high-quality drink must be balsamic and contain a bouquet of herbs, oils and all the listed ingredients. It should not emphasize any particular note. The taste is slightly oily, with a bitter aftertaste. The color of the balm is usually amber, dark brown or black, depending on the composition. Bitner, Riga and Becherovka are considered to be the best balsams in the world. Each balm is unique in its composition and has its own secrets. It is no different with our Balsam Warszawski, which is made according to an old Polish recipe that dates back to the 18th century. It consists of many ingredients, including honey, propolis, cinnamon, cloves and many others.
