Poseidon wine is a unique Portuguese wine created by winemaker Francisco Baptista. It was created from three grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Sousão.
The vinification of this wonderful wine begins with the de-stalking and crushing of the grapes, which then undergo maceration for 12 hours before fermentation. The alcoholic fermentation process takes place at a controlled temperature (22-24°C) for 10 days, using selective yeasts. The next step is to subject the wine to malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. The soil on which the vines grow consists mainly of crystalline schist, and the region in which the wine matures is characterised by a hot and dry climate, with significant temperature differences.
The colour of this exceptional wine presents itself as a deep ruby core with subtle violet/blue flecks. The aroma, on the other hand, stands out for its intensity and power, while remaining fresh. The dominant balsamic notes combine with aromas of wild forest berries to create a harmonious whole. Aged for 12 months in new and old French barrels, followed by 83 days on the high seas, the wine presents an extremely elegant and voluptuous taste, perfectly balanced and delicate on the palate.
It’s worth noting the exceptionally long finish, in which floral notes and aromas of wild forest berries return. This is an exceptional wine that pairs well with grilled meats, stews and hard cheeses. The alcohol content of this liquor is 14%.
This wine is characterised by an acidity of 4.9 g/L and a very low residual sugar level of less than 0.6 g/L. The pH of this wine is 3.66.
